Join us on Dec 11 for the GRAND OPENING in Big Cypress National Preserve for the recently completed Tamiami Trail Scenic Highway Improvements. They include wildlife viewing areas, boardwalks and other facilities that will provide a safer and more interesting visit for everyone who enjoys Big Cypress National Preserve.

Where Kirby Storter Boardwalk (see map at bottom of page) Located along Tamiami Trail (Hwy 41), approximately 45 miles east of Naples and 50 miles west of Miami.
Activities 10:00 - 10:45 Ribbon Cutting, refreshments will be available
10:45 - 11:45 Explore the new Kirby Storter Boardwalk. National Park Rangers will be available to answer questions and identify wildlife.
11:45 - 1:00 Lunch on your own. restaurants are available in Ochopee, Everglades City, and Chokoloskee
1:30 - 4:30 Canoe the Turner River. Join a ranger at the new Turner River canoe launch area for a paddle along the water way. Space is limited, reservations required. Call (239) 695-1201
1:00 - 4:00 National Park Service Rangers will be at improved facility sites: Oasis Visitor Center, HP Williams Wildlife Viewing Platforms, and the Kirby Storter Boardwalk. They will be available to answer questions and point out the unique wildlife in the area.
5:00 - 6:30 Kirby Storter at night. Join a ranger at the Kirby Storter Boardwalk to explore the night world of the Big Cypress Swamp. An easy walks along the boardwalk. Be sure to dress for cool weather. Reservations suggested. Call (239) 695-1201.
All Day Donated artwork will be on display at the Oasis Visitor Center
